The same name does not mean the same data

The same material may have different names in procurement and the warehouse. An employee may have several accounts. Until these entities can be reliably matched, combined analytics will require manual clarification.

Define the owner of each entity

Every shared entity needs a source that other systems trust. This does not necessarily mean one database for everything. It is more important to agree on where a record is created, who can change it and how others learn about the change.

Separate reference data, events and history

Reference data describes an entity. An event reports a change. History lets you trace what happened over time. In EcoPro, these tasks are distributed between MDM, the MB Kafka bus and DWH.

Make data quality part of the process

Required field checks, duplicate detection and record update rules must work where data is created. Fixing it only in a report is too late: the error may already have affected other actions.
